Key Contact Program

Members of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) can participate in AASM initiatives that promote the field of sleep medicine and sleep research by volunteering as a “Key Contact.”

The AASM matches Key Contacts with legislators in their district and provides an action plan that focuses on relevant issues in their state.

The AASM notifies Key Contacts when their state proposes an article of legislation that could have an impact on the field of sleep medicine. Key Contacts may be asked to take an active role by sending their elected officials a letter or e-mail, making phone calls, or setting up a meeting with their representatives.

The AASM government relations department equips Key Contacts with supporting materials such as an analysis of proposed legislation, a summary of the AASM’s position, sample letters and talking points.

Make a significant impact on the field of sleep medicine and sleep research by volunteering to become an AASM Key Contact.
