CORRESPONDING MEMBERSHIP FOR INTERNATIONAL MEMBERS
In an effort to increase the accessibility of membership to the international sleep community, the AASM has developed a membership program that will allow sleep medicine and sleep research professionals from lower-income countries the opportunity to join the AASM and receive many important benefits of membership at a manageable cost.

The Corresponding Membership category is open to non-American individuals (outside of the United States and Canada) whose financial or academic situation renders it a hardship for them to pay full members dues. Individuals may apply for Corresponding Membership in one of two ways:

Corresponding Membership A:
Annual Dues: $140.00
Annual membership dues may include $24 for a subscription to the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine.
This option is available to individuals residing in countries classified by the World Bank as low-income, lower-middle-income, or upper-middle-income (click here for a list of eligible countries). Under this option, individuals may apply for membership at a reduced dues rate and will receive all of the benefits of membership excluding voting rights and print subscriptions to the journals. If you wish to receive printed copies of the journals, you must pay an additional international postage fee. There is no limit to the number of years that an individual may stay in this category. To apply under Corresponding Membership Option A, complete the online membership application (the applicant’s mailing address must be located in one of the above mentioned countries to receive the discounted dues rate).

Corresponding Membership B:
Annual Dues: $0.00 - $140.00
This option is available to individuals who require additional dues assistance or do not reside in one of the World Bank designated countries under Option A. Under this option, individuals will receive all of the benefits of membership excluding voting rights and print subscriptions to the journals. Membership under this option is limited to two years, after which you must convert your membership to Option A. To apply for membership under Corresponding Membership Option B, you must submit a written letter requesting Corresponding Membership status—describing the hardship that necessitates such application—to the AASM National Office. This request will be reviewed by the AASM Board of Directors on an individual basis, and any or all fees may be waived depending on individual circumstances.

Contact the AASM national office for more information about membership.
