Since 1977, the AASM has served as the gold standard in sleep facility accreditation. With over 2,500 sleep facilities accredited and many more in process, the AASM is in need of specialty talent to meet the demands of sleep facilities throughout the nation. We seek an experienced board-certified sleep physician to perform professional site visits as part of the sleep facility and independent sleep medicine practice accreditation processes. This includes the review of application materials and writing of site visit reports. The ideal candidate will have a proper balance of medical expertise and business acumen in order to objectively evaluate sleep facilities seeking accreditation. This is an independent contractor position which will involve 100% travel primarily based on the west coast approximately 4 - 8 days a month. Because of this,
qualified candidates who reside on the west coast will be given primary consideration
Review all assigned applications for accreditation and other applicable materials prior to visiting facilities. Prepare pre-visit materials.
Perform accreditation site inspections based on current AASM accreditation standards within an assigned region of the United States.
Complete site visit reports in a timely manner
Manage site visits to ensure that inspections are standardized and efficient. Provide timely information and assistance to applicants relating to their site visit as needed. Significant travel, approximately two days per week/visit, is required with this position.
Based in west coast area; capable of traveling up to 100% of the assigned time, with the ability to drive a vehicle to sites. Must have a valid driver’s license.
Availability to conduct 2 – 4 site visits per month (4-8 days per month)
Must have a valid, unrestricted Medical License.
Board-certified in sleep medicine through the American Board of Sleep Medicine, a member board of the American Board of Medical Specialties or a member board of the American Osteopathic Association
5+ years’ experience as the medical director of an AASM-accredited sleep facility
Strong problem-solving skills and independence to manage significant regular travel demands.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
Ability to interact effectively with applicants and accredited facilities, demonstrating strong written and verbal communication skills.
