The University of Wisconsin in Madison has openings for Assistant professor or Associate Professor in both clinical and tenure tract to join the Division of Pediatric Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine. The University of Wisconsin Pediatrics is based in the American Family Children’s Hospital (AFCH) in Madison on the University of Wisconsin flagship campus. AFCH was recently ranked as one of the 50 best Childrens Hospitals by US News & World Report and our Pediatric Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine program was ranked #29. We have active clinical and research programs in:
1 Cystic Fibrosis — one of the oldest CF centers in the country and the pioneer in newborn screening in CF. In addition, we developed the program for transition to adult care for CF that is the model for transition program advocated by the CF Foundation.
2 Neuromuscular Respiratory Disease — We have developed approaches to the treatment and care of infants and children with chronic respiratory insufficiency secondary to neuromuscular disease. These have resulted in improved outcomes after surgery and improved quality of life for these children.
3 Care of the Technology Dependent Patient — We have been providing care and management of children who are dependent on technology for respiratory support for over 40 years.
4 New Aerodigestive Program — We are launching a comprehensive program for the treatment and management of infants and children with Aerodigestive challenges. This builds upon existing programs for children with Tracheoesophageal fistulas, Cleft and Craniofacial team, and Down Syndrome clinic.
5 Pediatric Sleep Program — We have a robust outpatient pediatric sleep lab and the ability to perform polysomnography inpatient on children with complex cardiorespiratory conditions.
6 Pulmonary Hypertension Program — We have a team of a Pulmonologist, Interventional Cardiologist and PNP that are focused on the care and management of children with pulmonary hypertension.
7 Asthma — in collaboration with the Division of Allergy and Immunology, we have a vibrant clinical program in the care of the child with asthma and participate with the leaders of the AsthmaNet and Childhood Origins of ASThma (COAST) programs that are based at UW.
8 Childhood Interstitial Lung Disease (chILD) — active participant in the chILD network.
9 Pediatric Pulmonology Center (PPC) — one of only eight centers in the country that is dedicated towards training the future leaders in Pediatric Pulmonary care for children.
