technologist education and training. A-STEP equips trainees with the knowledge and skills
they need to excel in the profession of sleep technology.

BECOME A CERTIFIED OR REGISTRED SLEEP TECHNOLOGIST
The American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM) and the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (BRPT) are the credentialing boards that confer registration and certification as a sleep technologist.
There are several eligible pathways to become a Registered Sleep
Technologist (RST), Certified Polysomnographic Technician
(CSPGT), or Registered Polysomnographic Sleep Technologist
The eligible pathways include:
- Clinical Experience
- Healthcare Credential
- CAAHEP/CoARC Student
- Focused Training
BECOME AN A-STEP ACCREDITED COURSE PROVIDER
AASM offers A-STEP accreditation to AASM Accredited Sleep Facilities and Academic Institutions. These entities can apply to become an accredited A-STEP provider of the 80-Hour Introductory Course.
